Trump says he has made decision on Iran deal, declines to say what it is

Image
U.S. President Donald Trump Reuters, September 20,  2017 -  US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had made a decision on whether or not to pull the United States out of the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, but he declined to say what it was. Trump, when asked by reporters, said: “I have decided.” If Trump does not certify in October that Iran is complying with the agreement, the US Congress will have 60 days to decide whether to reimpose sanctions waived under the pact. Iran is prepared for all possible scenarios if US President Donald Trump scraps a nuclear deal reached between Tehran and six major powers in 2015, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Wednesday. “Iran is ready for any possible scenarios if Trump walks out of the deal. That includes immediately resuming its nuclear work that was curbed under the deal,” said the official on condition of anonymity.

Trump last month announced a new Afghanistan policy to knock back the Taliban, who are continuing to mount deadly attacks, control large areas of territory and are killing local Afghan forces in the thousands. Mattis told Pentagon reporters that he didn't want to give precise numbers but said he was sending 'exactly over 3,000' troops to Afghanistan, where they will bolster the approximately 11,000 American forces already there. 'Frankly I haven't signed the last of the orders right now as we look at specifics,' he said. ...

Why Iran's nuclear program is a greater threat than North Korea's North Korea's most recent  hydrogen bomb test  is another reminder of the consequences of not making the right decision at the right time. The international community's failure to stop and dismantle North Korea's nuclear program has enabled the regime to obtain weapons of mass destruction. A similar scene is developing in Iran, where the only thing standing between a fundamentalist regime and nuclear weapons is an agreement with too many loopholes and no safeguards against threats that run parallel to the atomic bomb.

U.S. Ambassador Haley U.N. has exhausted options on North Korea WASHINGTON , Reuters, SEP. 17, 2017  - U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said on Sunday the U.N. Security Council has run out of options on containing North Korea’s nuclear program and the United States may have to turn the matter over to the Pentagon. “We have pretty much exhausted all the things that we can do at the Security Council at this point,” Haley told CNN’s “State of the Union,” adding that she was perfectly happy to hand the North Korea problem over to Defense Secretary James Mattis. As world leaders head to the United Nations headquarters in New York for the annual General Assembly meeting this week, Haley’s comments indicated the United States was not backing down from its threat of military action against North Korea. North Korea launched a missile over Japan into the Pacific Ocean on Thursday in defiance of new U.N. Security Council sanctions banning its textile exports an...

Acts of brutality against the Kurdish population in Iran is a regular occurrence. For instance, just a few days ago (September 4, 2017), soldiers of Iran’s dreaded Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp of Iran (IRGC) shot dead two porters in cold blood in the western city of Baneh. In protest against the killings, demonstrations broke out in the Kurdish city and a large number of residents gathered outside the governor’s office on Tuesday (September 5) demanding an end to the ongoing attacks against workers. According to reports by opposition groups, a number of shops and markets were closed in support of the protests, even as the regime’s security forces clashed with protesters.  Video recordings of these clashes have also been released by certain opposition groups. Haley lays out argument to say Iran not abiding nuclear deal. WASHINGTON (AP) Sept. 6, 2017  -- President Donald Trump's envoy to the  United Nations  laid out an argument Tuesday for the U.S. to declare Iran in violation of the nuclear deal, but suggested the Trump administration might then leave it to Congress to decide whether to withdraw. In a speech to a conservative think tank, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said she didn't know what decision Trump would ultimately make, as a series of deadlines approach. Yet she said Trump would be on solid ground if he did decide against certifying Iran's compliance, and added, 'What happens next is significantly in Congress' hands.' 'I get that Congress doesn't want this. This is not an easy situation for Congress,' Haley said. 'But our lives are not about being easy. Our lives are about being right.' The Trump administration has been debating for months whether to scuttle the nuclear deal, as...

New Light On Iran's Human Rights Violations

Image
Two of the major crises the international community is currently engaged with are terrorism and nuclear proliferation. Iran, in particular, is negatively involved in both fields, being known as the central banker of international terrorism, and suspicious for its own controversial nuclear program at home parallel to its nuclear/missile collaboration with North Korea. As these subjects are of significant importance and deserve even more attributed attention, what must not go neglected is the fact that Iran is taking advantage of such circumstances to continue an equally important campaign of belligerence against its own people. The scope of human rights violations carried out by Tehran is continuously on the rise, with the ruling regime interpreting the mentioned international crises as windows of opportunity to extend its domestic crackdown. And yet, a promising report issued from the United Nations has shed very necessary light on a specific dossier Iran has gone the limits th...

Yves Bonnet: 1988 Iran Massacre Was Methodically Planned

Image
NCRI - In a speech at a conference held in Paris , former head of France's domestic intelligence agency, Mr. Yves Bonnet described the “horrific magnitude” and “methodology” of 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran, as its two fundamental aspects of this crime against humanity that should not go unpunished. The conference took place on the sidelines of an exhibition displaying horrors of 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran held at the City Hall of the 1st arrondissement of Paris, in the presence of Mayor Jean-François Legaret, on Thursday 17 August 2017. Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) builds missile factory for Hezbollah Terrorists BEIRUT, AP, Aug. 31, 2017 -- The Islamic State group has handed over the body of a recently captured Iranian Revolutionary Guard member as part of a deal that allowed hundreds of extremists and their families to evacuate the Lebanon-Syria border region.  The Lebanese Hezbollah group, which negotiated the controversial deal, said Thursday it had received the body of Mohsen Hojaji and would conduct DNA tests before sending his remains onward to Iran.  The evacuation deal, in which the militants also revealed the locations of the remains of Lebanese soldiers captured in 2014 in exchange for safe passage to an IS-held area in Syria near the Iraqi border, angered Iraq and the U.S.-led coalition, which said IS militants should be killed on the battlefield.  U.S. airstrikes on Wednesday blocked the convoy of evacuees, which includes some 300 fighters and as many civilians, wi...
