WHY MARYAM RAJAVI BELIEVES IRANIAN WOMEN SHOULD BE FREE TO DRESS FREELY

WHY MARYAM RAJAVI BELIEVES IRANIAN WOMEN SHOULD BE FREE TO DRESS FREELY by Mahmood Hakamian  Last week, we featured a piece on gender equality and how it is imperative to the Iranian Resistance movement. In that piece, we outlined ten areas that Maryam Rajavi and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) would tackle in order to make gender equality a reality in a Free Iran. One of those areas was freedom of dress and today we will examine why Maryam Rajavi believes that choice in clothing is such an important area to achieve gender equality in. What are the laws regarding women’s clothing in Iran? Under the mullahs’ Sharia law, women are supposed to remain veiled in public. The law is incredibly unpopular in Iran and many women defy it at any given opportunity. When was this law introduced? The mandatory Hijab was introduced in the early days of the Iranian Regime and many Iranian women, especially those involved in the NCRI member group the People's Mojah...

The MEK's Religious Beliefs

Image
The MEK's Religious Beliefs Jubin Katiraie   Blog 18 The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) is a political group dedicated to bringing freedom and democracy to Iran. They derive their political beliefs from a modern and tolerant version of Islam that is fully compatible with modern society – the exact opposite of the ruling mullahs’ Sharia Law, which is intolerant, extremist, genocidal, non-democratic, and misogynist – and the MEK believe that their interpretation is the true meaning of Islam. In 1982, MEK leader Massoud Rajavi, said: “The Islam we want is nationalistic, democratic, progressive, and not opposed to science or civilization. We believe there is no contradiction between modern science and true Islam, and we believe that in Islam there must be no compulsion or dictatorship.” This combination of tolerant religion and politics means that the MEK enjoys broad public support amongst the Iranian people and people all over the world, but it is ...

HOW POPULAR IS THE MEK IN IRAN?

Image
HOW POPULAR IS THE MEK IN IRAN? by Mahmood Hakamian  One of the most common reasons given for dismissing the Iranian Resistance, specifically the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), is that it is unpopular within Iran. This is simply untrue. The MEK is the largest and most popular people’s resistance movement within Iran and it enjoys support from all sectors of the population. The Mullahs’ Regime, on the other hand, is highly unpopular among the Iranian people as evidenced by the hundreds of protests per day in 2017, which was admitted to by the Regime and finally by the recent nationwide protests and uprising in which the Iranian people clearly expressed their desire for regime change as the one and only solution to all the problems. Getting precise numbers of MEK members and supporters in Iran is impossible because this organization has been banned there since the early 1980s, shortly after the then Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini declared the MEK to be enemies ...

What Happened to the MEK During the 1979 Revolution? Part 4

What Happened to the MEK During the 1979 Revolution? Part 4 Jubin Katiraie   Blog 15 February 2018   f Share   in Share This is the fourth and final piece in a series about the People's  Mojahedin Organization  of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the 1979 Iranian Revolution. When we left off last time, the mullahs had stolen the 1979 Revolution from the MEK and the people of Iran and were instead using it to serve their own interests. Ruhollah Khomeini had returned from exile only to appoint Supreme Leader (essentially, naming himself king) and appoint the clergy to the government against the wishes of the Iranian People. The MEK had made clear that they were opposed to this, rejected the mullahs’ offer of ill-gotten power, and had launched a campaign to run against the mullahs in the proposed 1980 election. For that, the Supreme Leader ordered his terrorist gangs (Hezbollah) to attack the MEK. The MEK took a position of non-vio...

Iran Resistance Rebukes Slur From Disgraced MP Against PMOI/MEK

Iran Resistance Rebukes Slur From Disgraced MP Against PMOI/MEK London, 18 Dec - The Iranian Resistance have penned a damning rebuke of false and malign allegations against Iran’s largest opposition group, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) that were published in the Evening Standard earlier this month. Since the paper published these lies in their Londoner’s Diary column on December 7, they have repeatedly refused to even to publish the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI) letter to the editor- with actual sources to back up their statements- so the NCRI  published  it in full on their website instead. The unfounded allegations against the PMOI were made by Denis MacShane, a deputy of former British foreign secretary Jack Straw, who was expelled from the British Parliament for financial crimes. MacShane and Straw are key supporters of the Iranian Regime- seeking to defend it against any warranted criticism like its countless human ri...

Iran Seeks Breathing Room Through Yemen Missile Attacks

Iran Seeks Breathing Room Through Yemen Missile Attacks 12/21/2017 4:19:13 PM Houthi media released images of the missile it says was fired towards Saudi Arabia.   ‌BY: Heshmat Alavi FORBES, DEC 21, 2017 -- What is the objective behind the recent surge of ballistic missile attacks staged by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militias against Saudi Arabia? With the Saudi-led coalition retaking 85% of the country from the Houthis, Tehran understands fully its Yemen campaign is coming to a dismal end. All the while, the Iranian regime faces increasing mayday scenarios domestically and abroad. Iran is a regime established on crises: Unable to resolve one or a number of dilemmas, or anticipating others in the making, Tehran resorts to launching new turmoil. The mentality of this regime, and its four decades of unjustified rule, has resulted in the status quo of constantly choosing between bad and worse. Following similar ballistic missile launches on Nov. ...

Huffington Post Must Stop Publishing Propaganda Against PMOI/MEK for Iran

Huffington Post Must Stop Publishing Propaganda Against PMOI/MEK for Iran 19 December 2 London, 19 Dec - A Conservative lawmaker from the United Kingdom has written a blistering rebuke of “baseless accusations” made against Iran’s democratic opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK) by Massoud Khodabandeh, a mouthpiece for Iran. Sir David Amess MP, wrote a letter to the Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post, Polly Curtis, about Khodabandeh’s many articles attacking the PMOI/MEK which are factually inaccurate at best. Amess said that it was “regrettable” that The Huffington Post allowed itself to be “abused” in this way, given that Khodabandeh’s has published many hit pieces against the PMOI/MEK in the past year. Khodabandeh and his wife, Ann Singleton, are stringent European advocates for the mullah’s murderous regime and have attacked and defamed the PMOI/MEK for at least a decade. They were cited in a 2007 report by the British Committee for...

INTV's Pledges Drive for Finances Begins, as Iran Cracks Down on Media

INTV's Pledges Drive for Finances Begins, as Iran Cracks Down on Media It is risky to be a journalist who works for a dissenting news outlet in Iran. Reportedly, arrests and imprisonment of free minded journalists has been escalating in recent years. In fact, the Iranian regime is known to attack not only the reporters and broadcasters of independent and foreign information, but the recipients, as well. It is illegal to own satellite receiver equipment in Iran, but millions of Iranians use satellite equipment to tune into banned television networks. Equipment that has been confiscated by regime authorities is regularly replaced. Additionally, countless Iranians use virtual proxy networks (VPN) to evade restrictions on their use of the internet to gain information. These conditions make the work of dissenting news outlets more important than ever, as they expose information that goes unreported by state-run media. Iran National Television (INTV), known in Farsi as  Sim...

Iran Deal: Finding a Better Strategy Must Address Iran's Dark Human Rights Record Too 10/23/2017 10:19:36 AM   facebook Google+ ► Print President Trump has announced that he will adopt a new policy on Iran By Soona Samsami Independent Journal Review, Oct. 22, 2017   - IJR Opinion is an opinion platform and any opinions or information put forth by contributors are exclusive to them and do not represent the views of IJR. While President Donald Trump's  intention  to not certify the Iran nuclear agreement is on the minds of many Iranians, it's not their only worry. Countless Iranians, especially religious and ethnic minorities, wonder when they will see their imprisoned relatives, when they will get some form of justice for the cousin who was hanged, or the uncle whose limbs were cut off as punishment. They wonder when they will be able not just to live without fear of nuclear war, but also without fear of being lashed by the vi...
