U.S. makes contingency plans in case Iran nuclear talks fail 3/21/2018 8:38:50 PM The flag of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) flies in front of IAEAs headquarters during a board of governors meeting in Vienna, Austria June 12, 2017. Reuters- WASHINGTON  -MARCH 21, 2018-   The United States has had constructive talks about the Iran nuclear deal with Britain, France and Germany but is making contingency plans should they fail, the lead U.S. negotiator said on Wednesday. U.S. President Donald Trump gave an ultimatum on Jan. 12 to the European powers saying they must agree to “fix the terrible flaws” of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal or he would refuse to extend the U.S. sanctions relief on Iran that it calls for. U.S. sanctions will resume unless Trump again waives them on May 12. “We have had constructive talks with the Europeans towards a supplemental agreement but I can’t predict whether we will reach an agreement with them or not,...

Report to Congress on Iran Sanctions 2/1/2018 10:52:39 PM Congressional Research Service report on Iran Sanctions The following is the Jan. 17, 201b Congressional Research Service report, Iran Sanctions. From the Report: US Naval Institute News, February 1, 2018  - The multilateral nuclear accord (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA) provides Iran broad relief from U.S., U.N., and multilateral sanctions on Iran’s civilian economic sectors, including U.S. secondary sanctions (sanctions on foreign firms that do business with Iran). On January 16, 2016, upon the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) certification that Iran had complied with the stipulated nuclear dismantlement commitments, U.S. Administration waivers of relevant sanctions laws took effect, relevant executive orders (E.O.s) were revoked, and corresponding U.N. and EU sanctions were lifted. Under U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231, nonbinding U.N. restrictions on Iran’...

Iran asks UN nuclear chief to confirm it still follows deal 10/30/2017 7:41:46 PM   facebook Google+ ► Print International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Yukiya Amano (file photo) TEHRAN, Iran, AP, Oct 29, 2017  - The visit by Yukiya Amano, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, comes as the U.S. Congress weighs the deal. Trump's refusal this month to re-certify the agreement has sparked a new war of words between Iran and the United States, fueling growing mistrust and a sense of nationalism among Iranians. In a statement issued by his office, Rouhani said Iran's adherence to the deal 'has been complete and remarkable.' 'We hope that, given the full cooperation of Iran in recent years, the IAEA announces the final report on the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program as soon as possible,' Rouhani said. 'We should not allow the (nuclear deal), as an important achievement, to be undermined, and we must...

The End of the Perilous Fictions Surrounding the Nuclear Deal with Iran

The End of the Perilous Fictions Surrounding the Nuclear Deal with Iran 10/25/2017 6:39:54 PM The end of Iran nuclear deal by Sarah Stern    The Tower, Oct. 24, 2017  - A week and a half ago, President Donald Trump took the first, crucial step towards ending a significant portion of the foreign policy legacy that had been bequeathed to the nation by his predecessor President Barack Obama: the nuclear deal with Iran. What has been largely forgotten by the public is that this particular foreign policy mire was built upon a fiction. The fiction upon which the deal was based was clearly outlined in a seminal article by David Samuels in the May 15 2016  issue of The New York Times Magazine entitled, The Aspiring Novelist who Became Obama’s Foreign Policy Guru. The expose by Samuels focused on Ben Rhodes, the previous administration’s Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, and how he created a narrative to support the ...

Iran is violating the deal

Iran is violating the deal 10/18/2017 5:47:36 PM Iran_missiles BY ALAN M. DERSHOWITZ The Hill, October 18, 2017  - Iran is not only violating the spirit of the no-nukes deal, it is violating its letter. The prologue to the deal explicitly states: “Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.” This reaffirmation has no sunset provision: it is supposed to be forever. Yet the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA )  recently stated that it could not verify that Iran was “fully implementing the agreement” by not engaging in activities that would allow it to make a nuclear explosive device. Yukiya Amano of the IAEA told  Reuters   that when it comes to inspections, which are stipulated in Section T of the agreement, “our tools are limited.” Amano continued to say: “In other sections, for example, Iran has committed to submit declarations, place their activities under safegua...

REPORT: Iran May Be Much Closer To A Nuke Than You Think

REPORT: Iran May Be Much Closer To A Nuke Than You Think 10/13/2017 6:39:31 PM The National Council of Resistance of Iran reveals The Daily Caller, Oct. 12, 2017  - Iran may be secretly pursuing a nuclear weapons program on military sites away from international inspectors, a new report by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (  NCRI  ) obtained by Fox News revealed Tuesday. The 2015 nuclear deal negotiated by the President Barack Obama administration limits inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) officials to declared civilian sites at a moments notice. The IAEA can request access to military sites, but Iran is allowed nearly a month to prepare sites before their inspection. Critics note this may be enough time to conceal any nefarious activity. President Donald Trump will likely de-certify the Iranian nuclear deal to Congress in the coming week triggering a 60 day review of its effect on U.S. national security. Critics...

Iran's secret sites linked to nuclear weapons development revealed EXCLUSIVE   –   President Donald Trump is expected this week to “decertify” the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), better known simply as the Iran deal, declaring that the agreement reached in 2015 by the U.S. and five other international powers is not in America’s national interest. The matter will then be tossed back to Congress, which will have 60 days to decide whether to reimpose hefty pre-2015 sanctions. While the President’s likely move has generated wide condemnation from foreign policy leaders — who reiterate that the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has maintained Iran is in compliance — a new 52-page investigative report by the  National Council of Resistance of Iran  (NCRI), entitled: “Iran’s Nuclear Core: Uninspected Military Sites,” obtained exclusively by Fox News and slated for release Wednesday, ass...
